Mojo Monday #164

I tried to work on a card this weekend but I wasn’t successful. I ended up making a whole lot of parts that don’t have anything to do with each other. (I think that was partially due to my confusion that we gained an hour on Sunday! LOL) I thought well if I hold tight maybe some of them would work for any challenges this week.

That was the case with this wreath, I stamped it, coloured it, embellished it and even cut it out but that’s about as far as it got! Then I sat tight…

Wahoo!! The Mojo Monday sketch this week had a circle element to it so I was back in business!

Here’s what I did with that Verve wreath:

I didn’t quite follow the sketch to a T, I realized a little later that perhaps I should have used a larger card base! I’m one of those peeps that cut, then measure twice…um, uh…oh…then have to cut again! The paper is from Memory Box, Mistletoe. I used Copics to colour in the wreath and Distress Inks to shade. Glossy accents is my friend and the I-Rock is soon becoming my best friend!

Those are “Glam Rocks” and started off looking like this:

Um, yeah…I stuck them on (I swear that I-Rock calls me 24/7!) on the wreath BEFORE I cut it out. Well, I thought…there’s only one way to find out what happens when you run it through the Big Shot! Yup…metal disks. They do look kinda cool. I just need to get my hands on a Tim Holtz texture hammer! LOL Hmmmm…

I’m showing my VERVE!

Okay folks it’s a G rated blog! LOL As many of you know, I am a Verve-a-holic if there is such a thing! Ever since I saw my first Verve Stamp I knew that I HAD to have them! When I can I do the Verve challenges whenever Julee has a new release. Lately as I’ve been quite busy with my design work, designing and teaching classes as well as creating tutorials…I haven’t done some Verve big time in a little while! So….it’s perfect timing that today (Friday) is release day over at the Verve Forum at 9 Eastern. And well I’ve been up late and up early to get these challenges done! I will post the four cards within the next few days but for today, if you show your Verve (come up with a new Verve card or project using Verve stamps) and link to the Verve Store, you could win a $100 in Verve. WAHOOO! So here I am throwing my hat in!

So now…I had to make something new with Verve Stamps. WELL! Like a kid with new toys, I had to play with more new Nestabilities! WHEEEEE! So this time it’s the Peony! I’m really getting to really like this set, I’ve seen really fabulous artwork out there using this set and I now I can see why! So using the “Die Cut or Not to Die Cut” technique (that I wrote the confusing tutorial for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog…yes I will rewrite it!) with the Peony Nestabilities…I had made the card base (which is the dark burgundy red). I then cut out 3 more pieces of cardstock in lightening shades of pink with decreasing sizes of the Peony Nestability. I love the look of it at this point so I took a photo:

Now for the gorgeous stage, I used the flower from Verve’s Beautiful You set! I just LOOOOVE this flower! It’s my absolute favourite stamp!!
