Drunken Stampers Challenge #52 ~ Birthday Bash!!

I sooo can’t believe that our little ‘ole challenge blog is a year old! It just sooo seems like yesterday that Peg and I were talking about just getting off of our duffs and building the blog! So the theme for this week’s challenge is Birthday Bash! Surprise, surprise!

I couldn’t decide what I was going to do for this challenge, I had an idea or two but nothing really came together. Then…I thought about what it was that got Peg and I thinking…we both had the same image and the same two pieces of patterned paper…and we built two totally different cards. The image was a Stampingbella image and using one sooo felt right for this occasion!

Penny Black Christmas Card ~ Card Patterns #90

Yippee! Welcome to Friday! It’s always nice to reach the end of the week!
I recently discovered Card Patterns, which is a another great card sketch challenge blog.
I just love card sketches because I have trouble putting together my own and it’s great to try new ones out. This particular sketch was no different. I was on the fence whether I was going to attempt it but it always seems to come together once you start gazing at your supplies trying to piece the possibilities together. I had started figuring out the pieces a couple of nights ago and assembled it last night.

I also had realized that I had used all Penny Black stamps so I had entered the card in the Friends of Penny Black challenge as well.

So how to go about it? It all started with the 3 inchies that I wanted to use but in the end I didn’t use them! I’m sure I’ll find something to put them on.

I embossed Penny Black’s Christmas star stamp with red tinsel glitter, punched it out and glued it onto black inchie matboard, added yellow stickles and covered it in glossy accents. The inches were then glued on top of the ribbon and rhinestones “I-Rocked” in between. (okay, I do realize that isn’t a proper verb…)
The patterned paper was inked with aged mahogany distress ink and pierced. The sentiment panel was stamped, die cut with a labels 14 nestie and edged with aged mahogany ink. The flourish bits were various parts die cut using the Cuttlebug ornamental die and cut out of red foil paper and leftover patterned paper. To finish off the sketch, 2 glitter holly stickers were added on the right side corners of the black Fleur de Lis Spellbinder pendant.

So do you have any plans for the weekend? Are you going to catch the new Harry Potter movie? I usually catch it on opening night but it just didn’t work for me this time around. There’s a new theatre opening up in town so we won’t have to drive far to watch it on the super big screen.
