It’s the simple things. You know how I just love gold foil card stock on black or dark blue cardstock. Come to think of it, I just love gold foil card stock on everything! Apologies for the dark photo, the card stock is arctic blue not a indigo.
With all the tools, new techniques, gidgets, gadgets, pens, colours, etc out there for crafting…how we (I) often forget going back to basics. Now as much as this is going to “date” me, I remember way back when…stamping and using this kind of gold embossing powder. There were no heat tools, just small upside down irons or mug warmers such as this one below to melt the embossing powder which only came in gold, silver and copper.
I didn’t have a mug warmer or small upside down craft iron and remember holding my card stock over a stove element (an electric one) on low to melt the embossing powder. I don’t advise that now with all the easy to use and inexpensive tools out there nowadays. But I digress!
Going back to basics make great, beautiful cards. As I mentioned, this is a “plain” gold embossing powder similar to what I used in my youth. The gold dashed lines were drawn in with a Sakura metallic gel pen. I often forget how great these pens are!
Card Face Measures 4 1/4 x 4 1/4
Arctic Blue layers: 3 3/4 x 3 3/4, 2 3/4 x 2 3/4
Gold Foil Cardstock Layers: 4 x 4, 3 x 3
-cut cardstock, it’s easy if you have square nesting dies and you can cut the layers in one pass and save on card stock
-stamp sentiment and heat emboss with gold embossing powder on 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 layer
-draw dashed border with Gold Metallic gel pen
-add gold rhinestones
Basic. Simple. Easy Peasy
