It’s been a weird week for me. I’ve just been feeling a little introverted burying myself in a few books lately. I have also been working on a couple of projects that I’ve thrown out and started from scratch a few times. It’s quite frustrating when things don’t turn out as you would have liked. I persevered and finished a couple but have a few more I need to do. Unfortunately I can’t share them with you just yet but I will when I’m allowed ;) I can’t wait to share them with you!!

Card Measures 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Emerald Green Foil Card Stock Measures 5 1/4 x 4
White Card stock measures 1 1/8 x 4 1/4
-stamp background stamp (Hero Arts: Leafy Vines) onto green foil card stock using Jet Black Stazon (being a solvent ink, Stazon dries quickly and on glossy surfaces)
-stamp sentiment stamp (Stampendous: Christmas Wishes) onto white card stock using Jet Black Archival (I like the detail that Archival ink gives)
-assemble card

The most difficult part of this card was photographing it to capture the reflection of the card stock but show it’s true colour. IRL (in real life) the card stock is a wonderful jewel tone emerald green. You can easily use this layout with the same background stamp to make all occasion cards by changing the sentiment and card stock colours. I was just drawn to the stamp and this Christmas card popped in my head. You can easily change the green foil for gold or silver and use shimmer paper too! So many possibilities, gotta love it! :)

Express Creativity ~ A Page from Spike’s Journal

ExpressCreativity_Spike

I wanted to work on another page but things weren’t coming together and I couldn’t resist the pull of this page! I think it started off as a mop up page. From there it gained a little more technicolour spraying through a few stencils in a few colours. (I wasn’t following any colour wheel rules, I just sprayed whatever ink landed in my hand.) I think there was a look that I was aiming for (the colours reminded me of Rastafarian) but it got lost along the way. That’s okay journal pages can start in one direction and taken off in other. I am really liking the black spray paint that’s for sure especially to highlight around masks.

One thing I did discover was that my gel pens didn’t work over top the spray paint so I used a white china marker (also known as a grease marker) and it worked like a charm! If you’re not familiar with them I’m sure you may recognize them, there’s a little string you pull and you remove a little bit of the protective paper to expose more of it. Just google it to check it out.

You can barely read the “Express Creativity”, I had written it in the white china marker and attempted to outline it but my black pens were so fine I’d need to colour it in or grab a black sharpie pen. (Now you’d think I’d have one of those floating around but believe it or not, I didn’t! LOL)

For this page I was drawn to add a couple of dimensional elements. Here’s Alphaparts ~ numeric coloured with distress paint beside a remnant Rub.

This is a butterfly Artisan Chipboard by Pink Paislee (I can’t believe I picked up a few of these packages up at Winner’s! SCORE!!) that I sprayed Dylusions over top with a remnant rub below.

I’m a little addicted to Wendy Vecchi’s embossing paste too! I MUST get the black when I have the opportunity. Here’s also a closer view of the white china marker

So the saying I wanted to convey was:
-Journal to Express Creativity
-Journal to explore life

Thanks for visiting today, it’s a holiday here and I’ve been taking it easy this weekend catching up on some recreational reading. But I’ve been waiting ’til the last minute…I need to catch up on a few projects today :)

Have a great week!
